Meet our therapy dogs, Kiley and Lucy

Kiley
Kiley is a four-year-old Golden Retriever who has been professionally trained to provide comfort and joy as a certified therapy dog. Known for her calm and loving presence, Kiley also has an impressive repertoire of over 25 tricks, including waving, bowing, and gently offering her head for petting. Her journey began with Paws with Purpose, where trainers quickly recognized her natural aptitude for therapy work. She has been officially evaluated and approved by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, an AKC-recognized organization. Kiley has since brought happiness to hospitals, nursing homes, and a variety of community settings. When she’s not working, Kiley loves running at the park, exploring hiking trails, and swimming in the creek. Whether she’s visiting a school or a senior care facility, Kiley truly thrives when surrounded by people. We can’t wait for you to meet her!

Lucy
Lucy is a five-year-old Miniature Dachshund who earned her therapy dog certification in 2025. Weighing just 9 pounds, she is the quintessential lap dog and finds her greatest joy snuggled up with someone. Her soft coat and gentle demeanor offer a soothing, comforting presence. Over the past year, Lucy has been trained in a variety of environments to prepare her for therapy work. She was behaviorally assessed and approved by the Association of Animal-Assisted Intervention Professionals. When she's not working, Lucy enjoys soaking up the sun in the backyard, going for walks, and curling up to watch TV with her people. We’re thrilled to have Lucy join our team—and excited for you to meet her!

Meet our handler, Claire

Hello there! I’m Claire Spencer, the owner and founder of Petworthy. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to introduce myself and to share a bit about my medical background, so you can feel assured that you or your loved ones are in caring and capable hands during our visits. My professional journey in healthcare began as a Registered Nurse (RN) after graduating from Auburn University with my BSN. During my time at Auburn, my love of animals and caring for others led me to Auburn’s College of Nursing’s Animal-Assisted Therapy course. As a RN, I have extensive experience in the Emergency Department where I still work and with pediatrics in the summer camp outdoor setting. This past year I earned my official designation as a Certified Animal-Assisted Intervention Specialist. At Petworthy, you can trust in my dedication to care for you and your loved ones with pet therapy.
